Psychotherapy
Individual Psychotherapy ( also called Individual Counseling, Talk Therapy is a voluntary relationship between the client (who seeks therapy) and the therapist (who takes therapy). The aim of psychotherapy is to reduce the emotional distress of the person and help them cope. Individual psychotherapy helps in dealing with a wide range of issues while providing a safe, non judgmental and empathetic environment in which there is room to grow and explore yourself. Psychotherapy is completely confidential which entails that the issues discussed in therapy room stay in the therapy room.
When is it best to seek individual therapy?
Therapy could be able to help you lessen the consequences of any of the following emotions or feelings if you experience them to the point that they interfere with your life. The American Psychological Association advises that you take into account visiting a therapist when something distresses you and interferes with your life, especially when:
Overwhelmed: Feeling overwhelmed can occur when there are too many tasks or problems for one person to handle. You can experience difficulty breathing or even sleeping. Serious physical health issues might result from stress and being overburdened.
Fatigue: This physical ailment frequently arises from or goes hand in hand with mental health problems. That might be a sign of depression. You may sleep more than normal when you're tired or find it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. Everyone occasionally experiences excessive anger, rage, or resentment.
Disproportionate rage, anger, or resentment: Every momentary wrath need not be detrimental. When these sentiments persist, are excessive for the circumstances, or motivate you to engage in violent or possibly hazardous behavior, it may be a good idea to seek support.
Agoraphobia: Agoraphobics are afraid of being in situations where they might have panic episodes or get trapped. Some individuals can lose the ability to leave their homes.
It's normal to occasionally worry about things, but when anxiety consumes a large portion of your day or results in physical problems, counselling can help you manage it.
Apathy: Losing interest in routine tasks, your surroundings, or life in general may be a sign of mental health problems including depression or anxiety.
Hopelessness: Lacking motivation or feeling as though there is no hope for the future can be signs of depression or another mental health disorder. Feeling hopeless from time to time, especially after a period of adversity, isn’t uncommon. Yet if it continues, it might trigger suicidal thoughts.
Social withdrawal: When given the opportunity to spend at least some time alone, many people report feeling better. Those who are more introverted might require more alone time than others. But, counselling can assist you in understanding and coping with these sensations if you feel anxious about others or fear being around people.
If you feel like your symptoms are controlling you or if they could hurt you or someone else, it's very important to think about whether it's time to see a therapist.
